Phipps Wholesale Bakery

Established in 1986 in Cabbagetown, Phipps grew as one of Toronto’s favourite bakeries. Now, Phipps Desserts distributes baked to order goods across the GTA and south western Ontario to over 170 quality retailers, restaurants, cafes and catering companies.

We welcome retail customers to place pickup orders for select products or drop by our store at 1875 Leslie, Unit 21 in Toronto.

At Phipps Desserts, we take pride in our handmade, baked-to-order creations. Our uncompromising commitment to quality has remained unchanged for over 30 years, earning us the loyalty of customers who trust us to deliver delicious classics. We bake individual treats such as cookies, cupcakes, squares and tarts, to whole cakes, cheesecakes, pies and flans, from breakfast items to late night indulgences.

Using the best ingredients makes all the difference. Fresh butter, fresh cut preservative free Ontario apples, fresh eggs and dairy, Belgian chocolate, Dutch cocoa, and premium ingredients are brought together in our Award Winning Creations.

Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility

At Phipps we endeavor to reduce our carbon footprint, support local industries and enjoy inclusion and diversity within the workplace.

Cardboard packaging is made from 100% recycled material. We recycle paper and cardboard materials.
We support Second Harvest, Out of the Cold, local schools, and other charitable organizations with food donations.
We take several High School coop students throughout the year to help them learn the world of baking, develop skills and work as an integral part of our team.
Raw materials are Canadian sourced wherever possible. The apples we use are Ontario grown, preservative free. Our dairy and eggs are Ontario sourced.

Tarts From Phipps

So I ran my cousin’s Wii to the Purolator, and conveniently, there’s the Phipps on the way home. Since the Purolator is about a 5 minute drive from my house, this was even closer!
I decided to make a 20 minute dessert tour of the Leslie Street units. Stopped by Pastry House and Geri’s Good Eats as well. From Phipps, I got the chocolate pecan and the regular butter tart. So. Yummy.

Recommendations For A Great Lemon Cake?

I am ISO a great Lemon Cake in T.O. for a Birthday to feed about a dozen people (need not be huge…) Phipps is generally my go to…
Just wondering if anyone has any other recommendations? I am particularly interested in anything that combines Lemon and blueberry…

Downtown Butter tart from Richtree Natural Market

Here is a butter tart I stumbled upon while looking for a post-lunch treat. Richtree Natural Market is super-close to where I work. I usually go there for their cookies or cupcakes and was surprised to see butter tarts! How could I not have noticed this before? read

Sammy Cookie

The cookies here are so good! I ordered the Sammy Cookie and an Oatmeal Cookie. Both were incredible.

The Sammy Cookie is a chewy cookie with peanuts, Belgian chocolate, raisins, and coconut. I’m usually not a fan of coconut, but decided to give it a try. read
